Diljit Dosanjh is presently under fire for including Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his forthcoming Punjabi film, Sardaar Ji 3. On Sunday, June 22, the Lover singer released the trailer, disclosing that the film will not hit screens in India due to persistent tensions between the two nations and will instead debut internationally. Shortly after, numerous netizens criticized Diljit for Hania’s casting, labeling him ‘insensitive’ and ‘shameless’ in response to her alleged anti-India comments following Operation Sindoor.

Addressing the controversy surrounding Hania’s casting, Sardaar Ji 3 producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu told India Today, “The film was shot before the conflict with Pakistan. Keeping sentiments on Indian in mind, no India release for the movie.” The trailer for Sardaar Ji 3 is inaccessible on YouTube India, with the message stating, “The uploader has not made this video available in your country.”

On June 11, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) pressed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to deny certification for Sardaar Ji 3 due to the involvement of Pakistani artists. Alongside Hania Aamir, the cast includes Pakistani actors Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela. Consequently, it seems the filmmakers chose to forego a theatrical release in India and opted for an overseas release to sidestep further issues.

Hania’s Instagram account has also been restricted in India following the terror attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent rise in tensions between India and Pakistan. She further fueled controversy with anti-India remarks after India’s Operation Sindoor — a mission initiated on May 7, targeting nine terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the Pahalgam attack.
