‘It’s Not Over Yet’: Tom Hiddleston Opens Up About Returning To MCU’s Avengers Doomsday As Loki

Actor Tom Hiddleston has garnered a huge worldwide fan base, over the years. Having portrayed the God of Mischief, Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for over a decade, his character became an integral part of the universe. As his character is all set to make a comeback in Robert Downey Jr starrer Avengers Doomsday, he recently excitedly opened up about it.

In an interview with comicbook, during his appearance at the Olivier Awards, Hiddleston opened up about making a return and excitedly shared how he can finally talk about the project. Reflecting on getting an opportunity to revisit his character again, he expressed genuine enthusiasm over the further development of his character. However, he refrained from revealing any specific plot details.

Quoted by Hindustan Times, the 44-year-old British actor said, “[I’m] very, very excited. It’s really remarkable that I can talk about it because mostly I’m in a position of knowing and not being able to say anything … it’s been an extraordinary chapter of my life playing Loki, and it’s not over yet.”

Tom’s beloved character Loki had made his debut in the MCU in 2011 with Chris Hemsworth’s film Thor. He went on to star in films like The Avengers (2012), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). He also had a brief appearance in Paul Rudd’s film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). Apart from the films, Loki’s character was also further explored in the series Loki. The shows ran for two seasons 2021 and 2023 raking in love and admiration from the audiences as well as critics.

Talking about Avengers: Doomsday, it is one of the most anticipated and ambitious crossovers by Marvel after a long time. Apart from Tom, the cast includes a lot of past MCU actors like Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Florence Pugh (Yelena). It will also mark their official integration of the X-Men into the MCU with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Kelsey Grammer. The film is set to release on May 1, 2026.
