Amid ongoing discussions about excessive work hours in the film industry, Kajol has voiced her support for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, revealing that she has never worked 20–30 hours straight in her career. Her statement comes in the wake of reports that Deepika Padukone opted out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit after requesting an eight-hour workday—an ask that allegedly clashed with the director’s expectations. Kajol’s remarks add weight to the growing conversation around fair working conditions, especially for actors balancing personal and professional lives.

Kajol recently shared in an interview with PTI that throughout her career, she has consciously chosen to work on one film at a time and avoided long, exhausting schedules. Emphasising her commitment to work-life balance, she noted that she never worked for 20–30 hours straight and always maintained a reasonable workload, a practice supported strongly by her mother. Unlike many of her contemporaries who juggled multiple projects, Kajol preferred completing one film before moving on to the next, maintaining clarity and boundaries around her time and energy.

Reflecting on her experience after becoming a mother, Kajol recalled the support she received from her husband, Ajay Devgn, and various producers. She highlighted how they were accommodating during her personal challenges, allowing her to leave early or work shorter shifts when necessary.
During the shoot of U Me Aur Hum in 2008, when her father was hospitalized and her daughter Nysa was just two, Ajay—who also produced the film—ensured she had the flexibility to manage both home and work. Similarly, while filming Fanaa in 2006, the team worked around her schedule without contractual demands, showing genuine understanding and support.
