Kesari Chapter 2 Box Office: Akshay Kumar’s Historical Courtroom Drama Mints ₹30 Crore In Two Days

April 20, 2025

Akshay Kumar’s latest movie, Kesari Chapter 2, saw a significant increase in its box office earnings on its second day. The film’s two-day nett collection is estimated at around Rs. 17 to 18 crore, following a Saturday haul in the range of Rs. 9 to 10 crore nett.

According to the trade website Sacnilk, the patriotic drama is poised to conclude its opening weekend with approximately Rs. 30 crore nett, a figure that is both noteworthy and crucial for a Kumar-led project, especially after several recent box office disappointments.

The film’s earnings seem largely respectable; the surge it experienced during a partial holiday has positioned it favorably at the box office. Positive word-of-mouth is also prevalent, which should support a consistent performance through the weekdays. Notably, Kesari Chapter 2 achieved this solid uptick without the advantage of a national holiday release, typically a key factor in drawing crowds to Kumar’s films.

This rise in collections might signal a potential resurgence for the actor, reestablishing him as a genuine box office draw in the industry. Concurrently, Kesari 2 is encountering mild competition from Jaat at the ticket counters. The Sunny Deol-led film has been holding strong on the big screen, capitalizing on its narrative centered on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. However, its performance in the second weekend has tapered off, with a 10-day nett total of around Rs. 69 to 70 crore. It remains to be seen whether Jaat can still reach the Rs. 100 crore club at the box office, while Kesari Chapter 2 is just starting its theatrical journey.

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in significant roles. Set in the wake of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on 13 April 1919, it leans more toward a fictional tale of one man’s bravery against the British Empire. It should be noted that the courtroom incident depicted in the film never took place.
