In a revealing conversation on his nephew Arhaan Khan’s podcast, Bollywood star Salman Khan shared details about his time behind bars. The actor discussed the impact of his 2002 hit-and-run case, which led to his imprisonment in 2015.
During the podcast Dumb Biryani, Khan spoke about his days in prison, providing a rare glimpse into how the experience reshaped his life. “I couldn’t do anything (in jail). Somedays. I’ll get a five-minute break between shots, so I’ll sleep on the chair. In places where I cannot do anything, like, when I was in jail, I slept. I couldn’t do anything about it… When it comes to your work or family, the effort that you have to keep on putting in… you just need to be there for friends and family and work,” he said. Khan was sentenced to five years in jail for a case that has long shadowed his career, although he was later granted bail after spending about a week in custody.
Khan’s narrative wasn’t just about the confinement, but also about the introspection it spurred. “I was in the cell, thinking about life,” he shared, indicating how the solitude made him reflect on his actions and their consequences. This isn’t the first time he has spoken about his legal troubles. In various interviews over the years, Salman has expressed regret and a desire to move forward. For instance, in a 2018 interview with India TV, he stated, “I am just trying to make amends, one film at a time.”
The podcast episode also touched on lighter moments, with Khan humorously noting, “I couldn’t do my workouts, so I did a lot of thinking instead.” Meanwhile, on the work front, Salman Khan is currently busy shooting Sikandar. Sikandar also stars Rashmika Mandanna. The movie is helmed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The anticipation surrounding the movie is quite high.
